From a Confucianism view, chrysanthemum has been regarded as man of virtue and honor, and also anchoret who keeps distance from mundane matters. From a Buddhist view, it is depicted as cycles of lifetime.

The Four Gracious Plants (Ume tree, orchid chrysanthemum and bamboo) 1
The Four Gracious Plants, alternately called the Four Gentlemanly Plants, or the Four Seasons, consist of plum blossoms, orchids or wild orchids, chrysanthemums, and bamboo and is painted with traditional Korean black paint. Through they originally represented characteristics, they are now commonly associated with the four season, and represented Confucian symbols for the four qualities of a learned man. The plum blossoms represented courage, the orchid stood for refinement, the chrysanthemum was a sign of a productive, and fruitful life, and bamboo represented integrity. In modern times, the four have come to be associated with the seasons as well; plums blossoms bravely bloom in the cold of an early spring, orchids disseminate a dim fragrance far in the heat of summer, chrysanthemums overcome the first cold of a late fall and bloom, and bamboo bares its green leaves even in the winter.

Ume Blossom 1
Ume blossom informs spring first by coming into blossom first when other peers tremble with chilliness. Therefore, I regarded ume blossom as a man of virtue and symbolize a rejuvenation with full of energy. In addition, ume blossom is the most dear and lovely flower and has been shown in poetry and pictures. The language of flower is nobility and grace.

The sun, mountain, water, stone, cloud, pine tree, medicinal herbs brining eternal youth, turtle, crane, and deer symbolize longevity in the Far East. In Korea, this belief seems to date back to Korea dynasty as these symbols appear on some murals inside the old tombs of this kingdom. Either jointly or independently portrayed, painted or embroidered, the ten symbols were used as pattern figures in folk paintings and in wide range of artifacts like screens, pillows, stationary and bridal spoon bags.

Narcissus 1
Narcissus is plants which have yellow or white flowers symbolizing individualistic and self-love.
A beautiful young man whose name is Narcissus told his parents that he would live to an old age if it did not look at himself. Many nymphs and girls fell in love with him but he rejected them. The goddess Nemesis heard the rejected girls prayers for vengeance and arranged for narcissus to fall in love with his own reflection. He stayed watching his reflection and let himself die in water. As soon as Narcissus died, there blossomed a flower called Narcissus.
